Since moving to NYC, I’ve struggled to find Mexican staples like tortillas without trekking all the way to the Bronx. I’d gotten used to missing some of my favorite foods, so when I had dinner at Cuerno, those warm, house-made tortillas took me straight back to Mexico.

From the moment you walk in, you’re met with the vibrant elegance of the kind of restaurants I used to frequent in Mexico City. We were greeted with a complimentary mango drink, plus chips and salsa to start. We literally fought over the Crudo de Hamachi, it was that good. We also shared the Chicharrón de Pulpo and Queso Fundido, both served with tortillas (one flour, one maíz). The maíz were my favorite.

My friends ordered the Taco Richi, while I went for the Tacos de Carnitas—crispy, crunchy, and so satisfying. Cuerno has quickly become my go-to for a taste of home in the city, and I already can’t wait to go back and try the Barbacoa.

Pro tip: Cuerno is perfect for larger groups, the tables, ambiance, and music make it such a fun dinner spot. It can get loud (which I personally love), but if that’s not your vibe, try going during less busy times like lunch.
