Cipriani SoHo: Worth the Hype?

There’s no denying that Cipriani SoHo is one of those places you’ve probably seen all over your feed. The vibe, the crowd, and the scene as a whole definitely sets expectations.
We started with the carpaccio alla Cipriani, which was… fine. I’ve definitely had better. From there, we ordered a mix to share: the baked white tagliolini with Praga ham, bolognese, fried shrimp, and a tomato penne with mozzarella and basil.
To be honest, everything felt a bit underwhelming. The baked white tagliolini, which I had high hopes for, lacked flavor (and maybe salt), and the rest of the dishes followed a similar note. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t memorable either. I couldn’t help but feel like I could’ve made a better pasta at home.
For dessert, we went with the classic meringue cake, and since we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out a vanilla ice cream on the house which was a nice touch.
Overall, I left feeling a bit disappointed. It’s one of those spots where the experience and aesthetic might be what people come for more than the food itself…
Pro tip: Come for the vibe, but manage your expectations when it comes to the food.🫠
