Dining Inside Hotel Chelsea: Café Chelsea Review

The big “Hotel Chelsea” sign is hard to miss if you’ve spent any time in the area. Tucked inside this historic, eccentric, artist-loved hotel, once home to names like Andy Warhol and Patti Smith, you’ll find Café Chelsea, a French spot known for both its atmosphere and its menu.
We started with the croquettes de chèvre, drizzled with honey...so good. The order comes with five, so if you’re a group (4+), I’d honestly get two… you will devour them. We also tried the crudo de thon, which felt a bit underwhelming, I’d skip it and double down on the croquettes instead.
Next up, the ravioles du dauphiné.I truly don’t have the words, these were insane. Our server also recommended the salade d’endives, and I’m so glad we listened. It’s easily one of my top 5 salads ever. Do. Not. Skip it.
We finished with the steak frites, which was good, but on the smaller side; we were four and shared everything, and this one is definitely better suited for two. Overall: great atmosphere, solid food, and really good service.
Pro tip: Make a reservation. It’s not impossible to get one, but it does get busy at night.
